MUMBAI, India, June 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641055417 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on April 30, 2026, for Ai-Based System And Method For Cross-Chemical Prediction And External Validation Of Oxidative Stress In Earthworms.
Inventors include W. Jabez Osborne; Manas Manam; and Borra Sai Venkat.
The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT: Title: AI-Based System and Method for Cross-Chemical Prediction and External Validation of Oxidative Stress in Earthworms The present disclosure proposes an artificial intelligence (AI)-based system (100) and method for predicting oxidative stress in earthworms across different chemicals by analyzing biomarker responses and chemical descriptors, without requiring experimental measurement of catalase (CAT), peroxidase (POD), superoxide dismutase (SOD), ascorbate peroxidase (APX), biomarkers for the pollutant. The AI-based system (100) comprises a computing device (102), a processor (104), a memory (106), and plurality of modules (107) executed by the processor (104) for processing experimentally measured biomarker data and chemical descriptor data to generate an oxidative stress state. The AI based system (100) identifies stable and generalizable biomarkers for environmental monitoring, significantly reducing the need for full scale biological experiments for each new pesticide or environmental contaminant. A rapid and cost effective AI based system (100) for environmental risk assessment of pesticides and contaminants using earthworm oxidative stress biomarkers.
