MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611096065 A) filed by Chandigarh University on August 08, 2026, for Ai-Based Smart Safety Alert System For Locked Individuals.

Inventor includes Dr. Anjana Sharma.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an AI-based smart safety alert system for detecting occupants trapped inside locked rooms and automatically notifying designated emergency 5 contacts. The system integrates a door lock sensing unit, motion sensing, thermal sensing, an AIenabled controller, and a communication module to monitor occupancy and identify potential emergency confinement. Sensor information is analyzed using artificial intelligence to distinguish hazardous situations from normal occupancy while reducing false alarms through multi-sensor data fusion. Upon detecting an emergency condition, the 10 system automatically transmits alerts through SMS, voice calls, mobile application notifications, or other communication networks. If acknowledgement is not received within a predetermined period, the notification is escalated to additional emergency contacts. The invention improves residential safety, particularly for children, elderly individuals, patients, and persons with disabilities, by enabling rapid detection of accidental confinement and 15 facilitating timely rescue.
