Abstract: ABSTRACT AI-BASED SMART ATTENDANCE SYSTEM AND METHOD USING REAL-TIME FACE RECOGNITION The Present invention relates to an artificial-intelligence based smart attendance system (100) and method using real-time face recognition. The system comprises an image acquisition module (110) having a camera (111) and a frame capture unit (112), and a processing unit (120) comprising a face detection module (121) employing a Haar-cascade classifier, a preprocessing module (122), a feature extraction module (123) employing a Local Binary Pattern Histogram, an enrolment and training module (124), a recognition and matching module (125) and a duplicate-attendance prevention unit (126). A detected facial region is preprocessed and encoded into a feature vector compared against an enrolled face database (130) within a confidence threshold to identify an individual by live facial verification. Upon identification, a data logging module (140) records a timestamped entry in a structured file, prevented from duplication per session. The system is contactless, accurate, low-cost and scalable.
