MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521086929 A) filed by Pandit Deendayal Energy University on September 12, 2025, for Ai-Based Smart Air Conditioning System Using Human Sleeping Position Detection For Optimal Comfort.
Inventors include Dr. Abhishek Yadav; and Dr. Alok Jain.
The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an artificial intelligence based smart air conditioning system configured to automatically regulate indoor thermal conditions according to the sleeping posture of a human occupant. The system comprises a top-mounted or ceiling-mounted camera arranged to capture image or video data of an occupant lying on a bed, an artificial intelligence model configured to process the captured visual data and classify the occupant's sleeping posture, and an air conditioning controller configured to adjust operating parameters of an air conditioning unit based on the classified posture. The sleeping posture may include curled, fetal, side, back, stretched, log or starfish posture. Based on the detected posture, the system determines a thermal comfort requirement associated with body heat retention or heat dissipation and generates corresponding control signals for adjusting temperature set point, fan speed and airflow direction. The system may further store posture data and corresponding AC adjustment data to build a personalized user comfort profile for adaptive learning over time. The invention provides non-intrusive, real-time and posture-responsive climate control during sleep, thereby improving sleeping comfort, reducing manual intervention and enhancing energy efficiency by avoiding unnecessary cooling or overcooling.
