MUMBAI, India, Sept. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611084159 A) filed by Chitkara University on July 08, 2026, for Ai-Based Self-Powered Animal Welfare Monitoring System And Method.
Inventors include Parth Bathla; Madhu Aneja; and Dr Renu Bala.
The application for the patent was published on September 04, 2026, under issue no. 36/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an AI-based self-powered animal welfare monitoring system and method. The system comprises a wearable collar including biometric sensors, motion sensors, a microphone, a camera, a GPS module, a processing module, a distress evaluation module, a communication module, an energy harvesting module, and a power management module. The processing module analyses physiological, behavioural, acoustic, environmental, and contextual information to determine an Animal Distress Score (ADS) representative of the overall welfare condition of an animal. Upon detection of a predefined distress or emergency condition, the communication module automatically transmits alerts together with location information to designated recipients. The energy harvesting module utilizes piezoelectric elements to convert the natural movement of the animal into electrical energy for powering the system. The invention enables continuous autonomous monitoring, intelligent distress assessment, automated emergency reporting, and improved long-term operation for enhanced animal welfare management.
