MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641112155 A) filed by Pragati Engineering College on September 18, 2026, for Ai-Based Road Accident Detection And Emergency Alert System.

Inventors include Mrs. Lakshmi Viveka K; Mr. Krishna Chaitanya Pidugu; Mr. Tarra Sekhar; and Mr. K. Chakravarthy Bheri.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an AI-Based Road Accident Detection and Emergency Alert System for automatic detection of road accidents and rapid emergency notification. The system comprises a camera unit, AI processing unit, processor, GPS module, communication module, alert unit, and power supply. The camera continuously captures road images or video, which are analyzed using artificial intelligence and image-processing techniques to identify accident conditions such as vehicle collisions, overturning, or abnormal vehicle movement. When an accident is detected and confirmed, the system automatically obtains the geographical location using the GPS module and generates an emergency alert containing the accident status, location, and detection time. The information is transmitted through Wi-Fi, GSM, 4G, 5G, or another communication network to a registered user, mobile application, web dashboard, or authorized emergency service. A local buzzer, siren, or LED indicator may also be activated to provide an immediate warning. The system can store accident-related information, including images, location, time, and detection status, in local or cloud storage for future analysis. The proposed invention provides real-time accident detection, automatic location identification, rapid emergency notification, and remote monitoring, thereby helping to reduce emergency response time and dependency on human witnesses. The system is suitable for highways, city roads, traffic junctions, smart-city infrastructure, and intelligent transportation systems.
