MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621109812 A) filed by Tejal Rakesh Vallakathi on September 13, 2026, for Ai-Based Pre-Fertilization Oocyte Developmental Competence Prediction For Ivf Using Multimodal Learning.
Inventors include Tejal Rakesh Vallakathi; and Dr Abhijit N. Banubakode.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method are disclosed for pre-fertilization assessment of developmental competence of an individual mature oocyte using multimodal data processing. A digital microscopic image of the oocyte is standardized and converted into an image-derived machine-readable representation. Pre- fertilization contextual variables associated with the oocyte, patient, or treatment cycle are separately processed to generate a contextual representation. An association mechanism maintains oocyte-level or treatment-cycle-level correspondence between the representations, which are combined through multimodal fusion to generate an integrated oocyte-level representation. A prediction engine generates a probability corresponding to a predefined subsequent developmental endpoint, including normal fertilization and/or usable blastocyst formation. The probability may be calibrated using a validation-derived mapping, and explainability processing may associate image-region and contextual-variable attribution with the same output. The system provides probability-based computational decision support before fertilization without autonomously performing or directing an IVF therapeutic procedure.
