Abstract: Growing of digital entertainments platforms have led to a wide range of movie contents in different genres and languages, which make users difficult to select content. In this work, we propose a Movie Recommendation System which provides more personalized and efficient movie recommendations via a smart decision making process. Browsing and searching methods from traditional days become inadequate and useless when there is an overload of information and they are not personalized. The proposed method is a content-based approach which takes into account features of movies, such as genre, rating and title similarity. Based on a structured dataset of about 14,000 movies, the system recommends movies dynamically by computing the similarity across items using user input and feature similarity of the movies. In order to achieve high-quality recommendations, a number of two-steps, including preprocessing, filtering, relevancy ranking, and precision enhancement, are applied. It enables real-time operation and, thanks to its modular and scalable design, it can also be adopted to modem solutions for instance streaming or web applications. The system brings substantial improvement to user satisfaction by minimizing the search effort and providing meaningful recommendations. To sum up, this scheme can be regarded as a plain and effective method for intelligent content discovery with large-scale movie databases.
