Abstract: An AI-based contactless monitoring system and method for police lock-ups provide continuous, automated supervision of detainees without intrusive wear clips. The system comprises a sensory numeric data collector device (10) and a smart vision data collector device (30) deployed within a lock-up environment, powered by independent solar power management systems. The sensory numeric data collector device (10) utilizes a central computing unit (11) connected to acoustic (20), PIR motion (21), temperature/humidity (22), carbon dioxide (24), and carbon monoxide (25) sensors to track environmental and physical activity, localizing data with a GPS module (23) and real-time clock (19). The smart vision data collector device (30) utilizes a Raspberry Pi processing unit (31) linked to an infrared night vision camera (35) and an RGB IP camera (41) to capture dual-spectrum footage. Both devices run local preprocessing—including sensor filtering, motion detection, and image compression—before securely transmitting data over Wi-Fi to a cloud server (50). The cloud server (50) synchronizes and normalizes the multi-modal streams into a unified dataset. A pretrained machine learning model (60) evaluates this dataset to detect critical anomalies such as prolonged inactivity, distress sounds, toxic gas levels, or suspicious movements, instantly broadcasting detailed warning alerts with synchronized video snippets to authorized web dashboards and mobile devices while triggering local warning buzzers (42) during emergencies.
