MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611099422 A) filed by Noida International University on August 17, 2026, for Ai-Based Antenatal Risk Assessment Application For Enhancing Nurses’ Knowledge And Clinical Decision-Making Skills..
Inventor includes Sanjoo Gupta.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: Antenatal care requires systematic assessment and timely identification of maternal and fetal risk factors to prevent complications and improve pregnancy outcomes. Nurses play a vital role in antenatal assessment, health education, monitoring, early recognition of risk conditions, and referral. However, variations in knowledge, clinical experience, workload, and access to updated clinical decision-support resources may affect the accuracy and consistency of antenatal risk assessment. The present invention proposes an AI-Based Antenatal Risk Assessment Application designed to support nurses in systematic antenatal assessment and enhance their knowledge and clinical decision-making skills. The application integrates structured collection of demographic, obstetric, medical, clinical, laboratory, maternal, and foetal assessment data with an artificial intelligence-based risk assessment engine. The system analyzes the entered information to identify potential maternal and fetal risk factors and categorizes the pregnancy according to predefined clinical risk levels. Based on the identified risk factors, the application provides nurse-oriented clinical decision-support information, including recommended monitoring, nursing interventions, patient education, follow-up, and referral or escalation considerations. The application also incorporates an educational and assessment module containing evidence-informed learning content, clinical case scenarios, knowledge questions, and clinical decision-making activities. Preand post-assessment features can be used to evaluate changes in nurses' knowledge and clinical decision-making performance following use of the application. A performance dashboard may display assessment scores, learning gaps, and progress over time. The proposed invention is intended to provide a standardized, accessible, and interactive approach to antenatal risk assessment while supporting nurses in developing systematic clinical reasoning and timely decision-making. The application functions as a clinical decision-support and educational tool and does not replace professional clinical judgment, diagnosis, or treatment by qualified healthcare professionals.
