MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521086205 A) filed by Pandit Deendayal Energy University on September 11, 2025, for Ai-Based Adaptive E-Learning System Using Eye-Gaze And Cognitive Load Monitoring.
Inventors include Dr. Nandini Modi; and Dr. Yogesh Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.
Abstract: The titled invention discloses an artificial intelligence based adaptive cognitive e-learning system designed to monitor a learner's cognitive load during digital learning sessions and dynamically adjust instructional content accordingly. The system includes an eye- tracking glasses frame (1) supporting a dual infrared camera module (2) that captures physiological eye-movement signals such as gaze fixation duration, blink frequency, and pupil diameter variations. The captured signals are transmitted through a communication interface (4) to a central processing unit (3) where preprocessing and feature extraction modules prepare the data for analysis. A cognitive load assessment module operating with an artificial intelligence model including a Long Short-Term Memory neural network classifies the learner's cognitive state into low, medium, or high cognitive load. Based on this classification, an adaptive engine generates learning strategies that modify instructional content delivered through a user display device (5) operating with an e- learning platform. A cloud server infrastructure (6) stores learner interaction data and hosts an educator analytics dashboard for monitoring cognitive trends and engagement patterns. The invention enables continuous cognitive monitoring and personalized content adaptation to improve learning effectiveness and user engagement. Figure - 2
