Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to an AI and quantum learning scheduler (100) comprising a task input module (102) that receives a plurality of scheduling tasks, and a state representation module (104) that encodes a scheduling state, representative of the scheduling tasks and an availability of a computing resource, into a quantum state representation. A quantum Q-value estimation engine (106) executes a parameterized quantum circuit on the quantum state representation to estimate a Q-value corresponding to each of a plurality of scheduling actions, and an action selection module (108) selects a scheduling action based on the estimated Q-value. A scheduling execution module (110) executes the selected scheduling action, a reward computation module (112) computes a reward value based on an outcome thereof, and a Q-value update module (114) updates a parameter of the parameterized quantum circuit, in accordance with a Q-learning update rule, based on the reward value, the updated parameter being storable at a Q-table/policy repository (116), thereby enabling accelerated convergence to an improved scheduling policy.
