Abstract: The present invention discloses an Internet of Things (IoT)-based intelligent irrigation system configured for automated and efficient water management in agricultural applications. The system comprises a plurality of sensing units including a soil moisture sensor, a temperature sensor, and a humidity sensor, operatively connected to a microcontroller unit based on the ESP32 platform. The sensing units are configured to continuously acquire real-time environmental data from the agricultural field and transmit the acquired data to the microcontroller for processing and analysis. The microcontroller is programmed to compare the sensed soil moisture values with predefined threshold levels and is adapted to generate control signals for actuating an irrigation mechanism. The irrigation system includes a relay-driven water pump configured to supply water to the field when the soil moisture level falls below the specified threshold and to stop irrigation when the desired moisture level is achieved, thereby preventing over-irrigation and ensuring optimal water usage. The ESP32 microcontroller further comprises integrated wireless communication capabilities, enabling seamless transmission of real-time data to a cloud-based platform. The cloud platform is configured to store, process, and display environmental data, allowing users to monitor system performance remotely through a web-based or mobile application interface. The system supports both automatic and manual modes of operation, thereby providing flexibility and enhanced control to the user. The proposed invention offers a compact, cost-effective, and scalable solution suitable for modern agricultural practices, including precision farming and smart agriculture. By integrating sensing, processing, and communication functionalities into a unified system, the invention minimizes human intervention, optimizes resource utilization, and enhances crop productivity. Furthermore, the system contributes to sustainable agriculture by reducing water wastage, improving irrigation efficiency, and enabling data-driven decision-making for effective farm management.
