Abstract: The present invention relates to an Autonomous Rain-Responsive Crop Protection Drone System for protecting agricultural crops from damage caused by heavy rainfall. The system comprises an environmental sensing unit, a control and decision-making unit, a multirotor drone, a deployable umbrella canopy mechanism, a water diversion system, a communication module, and a docking station. The environmental sensing unit continuously monitors rainfall intensity and transmits data to the control unit. When rainfall exceeds a predefined threshold value, the control unit autonomously activates the drone and initiates take-off. The drone deploys a foldable umbrella canopy above a crop region to reduce direct rainfall impact, thereby minimizing crop lodging, soil erosion, nutrient loss, and plant damage. Integrated water diversion channels redirect excess rainwater away from sensitive areas. Upon rainfall normalization, the canopy retracts and the drone returns to the docking station automatically.
