MUMBAI, India, Sept. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641104316 A) filed by Samsan Innovation And Labs Private Limited; and Indian Institute Of Technology Mandi on August 30, 2026, for Agricultural Stress Monitoring End-Effector Device For Robotic Arm, And Method Of Operation Thereof.
Inventors include Sanjeev N Anigol; Dipankar Deb; and Ashwin Sham Deshmukh.
The application for the patent was published on September 04, 2026, under issue no. 36/2026.
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an agricultural stress monitoring end-effector device, and a method of operating the device. The device (200) is configured for detachable integration with a robotic arm (100) to enable real-time, in-situ assessment of plant physiological conditions. The device comprises a protective housing (210), a microneedle electrode assembly including a microneedle electrode array (220) and a reference electrode (230) enclosed within a retractable silicone sheath (214), a signal conditioning circuit (240), and an edge processor (250). The signal conditioning circuit (240) amplifies and digitizes electrophysiological signals acquired from a target plant body (T). The edge processor (250) extracts signal features including waveform amplitude, depolarization rate, and propagation velocity, and processes the extracted features using a one-dimensional convolutional neural network-long short-term memory (1D-CNN-LSTM) model. Based on SoftMax activation outputs, the device identifies physiological stress states associated with water deficit, pathogen attack, and nutrient deficiency and wirelessly transmits the determined stress state to a monitoring device (300) for corrective and timely agricultural interventions.
