MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511098093 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi on October 11, 2025, for Aggregate Plate Based Ball-On-Three-Plate Setup For Tribological Characterization Of Warm Mix Asphalt Binders.
Inventors include Vivek Pratap Wagh; and Ankit Gupta.
The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.
Abstract: The present invention provides an aggregate plate-based ball-on-three-plate setup (100), comprises a plurality of aggregate plates (1), a ball (2), a ball holder (3), and a dynamic shear rheometer (4). Further, said plurality of aggregate plates (1) positioned inside a plate arrangement cup of the dynamic shear rheometer (4). Further, said ball (2) is secured to the ball holder (3) forming a ball-on-three- plate arrangement, an asphalt binder applied between contact surface of the ball and the plurality of aggregate plates (1) and positioned inside a holding cup of the dynamic shear rheometer (4) configured to measure lubricating behavior of the warm mix modified binder by measuring the coefficient of friction (CoF) between the asphalt binder and the plurality of aggregate plates (1) at high temperature ranging from 120°C to 160°C for determining workability estimates and production temperature of warm mix asphalt binder production.
