Abstract: Disclosed herein is an agent for regulating expression of one or more genes associated with one or more skin conditions such as acne and excessive sebum production. The agent comprises a polyherbal extract comprising bioactive constituents and one or more excipients, where the polyherbal extract is obtained from 5-15% by weight of Azadirachta indica, 15-25% by weight of Ocimum sanctum, 15-25% by weight of Glycyrrhiza glabra, 12-22% by weight of Nigella sativa and 35-45% by weight of Phyllanthus emblica. The agent of the present disclosure regulates the expression of one or more genes involved in inflammatory and immune signalling pathways associated with one or more skin conditions without significantly affecting cell viability. The agent of the present disclosure demonstrates significant efficacy in improving one or more skin conditions and as an effective and safe solution for managing sebum-related skin conditions.
