MUMBAI, India, Aug. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641098022 A) filed by P Venkata Krishna; and Y. Bhavani Kumar on August 13, 2026, for Affordable Zoned Pressure-Sensing Exercise/Yoga Mat With Form And Alignment Feedback For Physical Education.
Inventors include G. Sarah Sarojini; and Y. Bhavani Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on August 21, 2026, under issue no. 34/2026.
Abstract: An affordable zoned pressure-sensing exercise/yoga mat for physical education is disclosed. The mat includes discrete low-cost pressure sensor zones at key contact points for hands, feet, knees, and center of gravity used in common asanas and exercises. A microcontroller processes the sensor signals to evaluate weight distribution, symmetry, and hold duration and provides multi-modal feedback (visual LEDs, optional haptic, and optional optical alignment projection). The system is designed for durability, rollability, low cost relative to commercial smart mats, and suitability for group use in school and university physical education settings. Optional wireless connectivity supports teacher applications for class monitoring. The invention enables objective form feedback and improved student engagement in large PE classes while remaining affordable and practical for educational institutions.
