MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511019383 A) filed by Itc Limited on March 04, 2025, for Aerosol Generating System And Method For Identifying Authenticity Of An Aerosol Generating Article.

Inventors include Kastha, Anindya; Kasiappan, Venkataraman; Vinze, Ravish; and Rohith, Koilada Pavan.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The disclosed aerosol generating system (100) includes an aerosol generating article (200) including a plurality of conductive patterns (202). The system (100) includes an aerosol generating device (102) having a set of terminals (112) which engage with any of the conductive patterns (202), upon insertion of the aerosol generating article (200) into a cavity of the aerosol generating device (102). The aerosol generating device (102) includes a controller (110) configured, such that upon engagement of the terminal with corresponding conductive pattern (202), the controller (110) computes an effective resistance of the engaged conductive pattern (202). The controller (110) further identifies a variant of the aerosol generating article, based on the computed effective resistance. The controller (110) then transmits a command signal to at least one heater (114) to control temperature of the aerosol generating device (102).
