MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611090037 A) filed by Manipal University Jaipur on July 24, 2026, for Aegis — A Real-Time, Multi-Modal, User-Side Visual Privacy Protection System Using Computer Vision And Adaptive Redaction.
Inventors include Nemat Sachdeva; and Mahesh Jangid.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a real-time, multi-modal, user-side visual privacy protection system that provides real-time multi-modal protection through its user-level system which detects and blocks visual content that contains sensitive information before it can be sent through digital communication channels. The system uses a computer vision system which detects objects by YOLOv8 and detects faces through blur-based redaction and performs optical character recognition (OCR) through contour-based text localization to detect and block privacy-sensitive areas in live video footage. The context-aware risk scoring engine combines detection module outputs to evaluate threat levels which include three categories of risk assessment through the application of redaction methods. The system has a modular architecture which enables edge processing to maintain complete system security while its performance reaches near-real-time speeds through adaptive frame-rate throttling. Aegis enables end users to manage their privacy rights by establishing an active digital communication privacy protection system that works before any data transmission occurs.
