MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641104450 A) filed by Thejaswini Sankar on August 31, 2026, for Advanced Magnetized Target Fusion-Based Propulsion System With Integrated Radio Frequency Plasma Heating For Manned Interplanetary Spacecraft.

Inventor includes Thejaswini Sankar.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: An Advanced Magnetized Target Fusion-Based Propulsion System with Integrated Radio Frequency Plasma Heating is disclosed for spacecraft propulsion. The system comprises a Magnetized Target Fusion subsystem configured to establish and transiently compress magnetized plasma, a Radio Frequency plasma heating subsystem configured to transfer electromagnetic energy to the plasma, a plasma exhaust management subsystem configured to generate directed spacecraft momentum, and a control subsystem configured to coordinate propulsion operation. Further embodiments comprise fusion fuel management, pulsed-energy delivery, electrical-energy management, thermal and waste-heat management, radiation management, sensing and diagnostics, and protective operating states. Propulsion operation may be coordinated according to plasma, electrical, thermal, radiation, structural and exhaust conditions. The architecture permits propulsion generation, onboard energy utilisation, heat rejection, radiation management and mission operation to be treated as coupled spacecraft engineering functions. The system may be implemented in crewed or uncrewed orbital, cis-lunar, interplanetary and deep-space spacecraft.
