Abstract: This invention relates to multi-material compression testing fixtures for a universal testing machine, additively fabricated as a single integrated build combining a carbon fiber base disc with a polylactic acid central cylinder, intended to provide a multi-material alternative to single-material or conventional machined metal compression fixtures. Fixtures comprises a Ø100 mm base disc of 20 mm height, fabricated in carbon fiber, with a 45°, 2 mm deep self-aligning chamfer at its perimeter, and a Ø38 mm central load- bearing cylinder fabricated in polylactic acid, rising 40 mm above disc, giving an overall height of 60 mm. A stepped axial bore, a Ø16.5 mm counterbore transitioning to a Ø8 mm through hole, passes through cylinder and base. Chamfer ensures self-centering and uniform load distribution on universal testing machine fixtures, while stepped bore enables secure pin alignment during testing. Deliberate placement of carbon fiber at base and polylactic acid at central column allows fixtures to combine high stiffness at load- transfer interface with the fabrication ease and tenability of polylactic acid at column. Universal testing machine trials have validated fixtures as a reliable, reproducible multi-material alternative for academic, research, and quality assurance applications.
