MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641094084 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on August 03, 2026, for Adaptive Vehicle Interaction Identity System For Secure Multi-Factor Electronic Toll Authentication.

Inventors include Dr. Harshita Patel; Vedansh Gupta; and Siddharth Goutam Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.

Abstract: A system (106) for secure electronic toll authentication of a vehicle (102) is provided. The system includes a processor operatively coupled to a memory storing executable instructions and an electronic toll lane (108) comprising sensing devices including RFID readers (110), telemetry sensors (112), and vehicle detection infrastructure (114). The system is configured to receive telemetry data together with a digital toll credential (104), transform the telemetry data into a Vehicle Interaction Identity Vector (VIIV), and construct and continuously maintain a Vehicle Interaction Identity Surface (VIIS) representing a historical behavioural identity of the vehicle (102). The system compares the Vehicle Interaction Identity Vector with the Vehicle Interaction Identity Surface to determine identity continuity, correlates the determined identity continuity with validation of the digital toll credential (104), and selectively authorizes, rejects, or flags a toll transaction, thereby enabling secure multi-factor authentication and detection of cloned digital toll credentials, unauthorized vehicle substitution, and fraudulent toll transactions.
