MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641118950 A) filed by Saveetha Engineering College on October 05, 2026, for Adaptive Trend Reversal Detector.

Inventor includes Dr. K. Sathiyamurthi.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an Adaptive Trend Reversal Detector for automatically identifying potential and confirmed changes in the directional behaviour of financial instruments. The system receives sequential market data comprising price, volume, volatility, momentum, and related market-derived parameters and determines a prevailing trend state. An adaptive parameter generation module dynamically establishes reversal thresholds and confirmation requirements according to prevailing market conditions. thereby reducing dependence on fixed thresholds and static observation periods. A countertrend movement detection module identities movements occurring against the prevailing trend, while, a reversal significance evaluation module assesses directional displacement, persistence. momentum variation, volatility-adjusted movement, trading activity, and structural changes. A reversal confirmation module distinguishes temporary countertrend fluctuations .from potentially sustained trend transitions and generates corresponding trend states including continuing trend. weakening trend, potential reversal, and confirmed reversal. The system further generates a reversal significance or confidence value and stores detected reversal events for subsequent analysis and calibration. The invention provides a context-sensitive mechanism for improving the responsiveness and consistency of automated trend-reversal detection and may be applied to securities analysis, portfolio monitoring, security selection, market surveillance, and financial decision-support systems.
