MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611093453 A) filed by Noida Institute Of Engineering And Technology Niet on August 01, 2026, for Adaptive Symbol Rate And Code Rate Controller For High-Speed Optical Transceivers.
Inventors include Himanshu Yadav; and Nitu Rao.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: The present invention discloses an adaptive optical transceiver system (100) for high-speed data center interconnects employing intensity-modulation and direct- detection. The system comprises a transmitter digital signal processing unit (110) with a configurable modulation format encoder (112), a receiver module (130) with an error rate monitor (139), a variable-rate forward error correction engine (140), and an adaptive coding controller (120). The adaptive coding controller (120) computes achievable information rates from measured bit error rates using a binary entropy function, jointly determines optimal symbol rate, modulation order, and forward error correction code rate, and includes a hysteresis and stability manager (127) to prevent oscillatory reconfiguration. A power management unit (170) adjusts converter sampling clocks to reduce power consumption. The system enables higher-order pulse amplitude modulation formats to operate at reduced symbol rates by pairing them with appropriately reduced code rates, achieving significant power savings and throughput optimization.
