MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641100842 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on August 20, 2026, for Adaptive Sensor Fusion Driver Monitoring System.

Inventors include Lalit Kumar; and S. Sobitha Ahila.

The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an adaptive sensor fusion driver monitoring system (100). The system (100) may include a first sensing unit (102) to capture first monitoring data associated with a driver, a sensor assembly (104) to capture second monitoring data associated with the driver and a surrounding environment, an alert assembly (106), and a controller (202). The controller (202) may receive the first monitoring data and the second monitoring data, determine a first confidence score and a second confidence score, generate a fusion control score, determine whether the fusion control score exceeds or falls below a confidence threshold to activate a first fusion mode or a second fusion mode, determine a driver condition by correlating the first monitoring data and the second monitoring data according to the activated fusion mode, and actuate the alert assembly (106) to generate one or more alerts based on the driver condition.
