Abstract: The present invention relates to an adaptive solar air-heating system utilizing recycled aluminium absorber elements for enhanced thermal energy transfer. The system comprises an insulated casing, transparent glazing, a black-coated solar absorber assembly, an airflow channel, inlet and outlet ducts, and a plurality of recycled aluminium elements positioned within the airflow passage. Solar radiation transmitted through the glazing heats the absorber assembly, while the recycled aluminium elements provide increased heat-transfer area and promote mixing of the flowing air. The system incorporates adjustable airflow and/or outlet control to regulate air residence time and outlet temperature. Temperature sensors and airflow measurement devices may be provided for monitoring system performance, and a variable- speed blower may be used for controlled forced convection. The configuration provides a low cost approach for improving heat transfer while utilizing recycled aluminium materials. The heated air may be used for agricultural drying, space heating and industrial preheating. The underlying project demonstrated outlet-air temperatures of approximately 64°C and observed improved heating and air mixing when recycled aluminium cans were used as absorber elements.
