MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611110323 A) filed by Chandigarh University on September 14, 2026, for Adaptive Predictive Seatbelt System For Vehicle Occupant Protection.

Inventor includes Deven.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: An adaptive predictive seatbelt system (100) comprises an adaptive seatbelt webbing assembly (101), a seatbelt control unit (102), a collision and motion sensor module (103), a biometric and posture sensor module (104), and an adaptive tension actuator (105). The control unit (102) processes vehicle-risk data and occupant-related data to determine a collision-risk condition. Before an anticipated impact, the actuator (105) pre-tightens the webbing assembly (101), and a shape-morphing material layer (106) changes from a flexible state to a stiffened state. During impact, the webbing assembly (101) assumes an expanded body-wrap configuration, and an inflatable cushioning module (109) distributes restraint loads across multiple body regions. A communication interface (108) coordinates the system with vehicle safety components. A post-impact emergency module (110) provides condition-responsive assistance, while an energy harvesting and diagnostic unit (111) supplies sensing elements and detects belt damage.
