Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for performance monitoring of AI/ML-based User Equipment (UE) positioning in a telecommunication network (1000) by an LMF node (400). The method includes receiving a service request from a network node (500), wherein the service request includes a plurality of attributes. The method further includes starting a periodicity timer based on a periodicity attribute. Upon expiration of the periodicity timer, the method includes initiating the collection of data samples in an area of interest. The method also includes transmitting either a service response comprising the collected data samples to the network node when the LMF node (400) completes the collection of the data samples or an error response to the network node when the LMF node (400) is not able to collect the data samples.
