Abstract: The present invention provides an adaptive optical oral biofilm imaging and quantitative assessment apparatus (100) for non-invasive visualization, detection, quantification, documentation, and monitoring of oral biofilm on tooth surfaces. The apparatus (100) comprises a detachable sterilizable optical examination assembly (101), a reusable electronic handle (102), an imaging module (112), an adaptive illumination ring (118), an optical calibration module (131), an image processing engine (132), a quantitative biofilm assessment engine (133), a reporting module (134), and a communication interface (135). The optical calibration module (131) adjusts illumination and image-acquisition parameters according to intraoral optical conditions. White-light and fluorescence illumination facilitate image acquisition, while the image processing engine (132) performs tooth segmentation and biofilm identification. The quantitative biofilm assessment engine (133) determines biofilm coverage and generates standardized assessment data. The detachable assembly (101) facilitates sterilization while protecting reusable electronic components. Reference
