Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method for selecting a multi-antenna technique at a satellite. The method comprises receiving, at a multi-antenna technique processing and selection unit (MAT-PSU) of the satellite, a plurality of operational parameters comprising a real-time link budget, a quality of service parameter, an elevation angle, and an antenna type parameter. The method further comprises categorising available multi-antenna techniques into beamforming techniques and non- beamforming techniques based on the antenna type parameter. Beamforming techniques may be associated with beam steering, beam tracking, multiple spatial access, and interference cancellation. Non-beamforming techniques may be associated with spatial diversity, multiplexing, and redundancy. The method further comprises assigning weights to the operational parameters according to a layered weightage scheme comprising a first layer weight, alpha weights, and beta weights. The method further comprises selecting a multi-antenna technique based on total weights computed from the assigned weights. (Figure 1)
