The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.
Abstract: A method for coding video pictures by adaptive loop filter (ALF) is provided. A video coder classifies a current sample of a current block of a current picture by identifying at least one class from a plurality of classes by using a coding information of the current sample that is independent of pixel values of the current sample and of its spatial neighbors. The coding information used for classifying the current sample may include a distance of the current sample from a boundary of the current block, or a prediction mode of the current block, or a prediction category of the current block that is one of first, second, third prediction categories. The video coder selects a filter based on the identified class. The video coder applies the selected filter to the current sample to generate a filtered sample as part of a reconstruction of the current block.
