MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611100472 A) filed by Chandigarh University on August 20, 2026, for Adaptive Iot Swarm System For Pollination Monitoring And Assistance In Controlled Farming.

Inventors include Nivedita Punia; and Harsh Sharma.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an adaptive IoT swarm system for predictive pollination monitoring and autonomous pollination assistance in controlled farming environments such as greenhouses and polyhouses. The system comprises a plurality of distributed IoT swarm nodes equipped with MEMS microphones, optical pollen density sensors, vibration sensors, a controller with an embedded predictive machine learning model, pollination assistance actuators, energy harvesting units, energy storage, and a LoRa-based mesh communication network. The controller computes a Pollination Index from real-time sensor data to assess pollination status and predict pollination deficit periods. Upon detecting insufficient natural pollination, selected swarm nodes activate vibration actuators and micro air-jet actuators to facilitate pollen transfer while coordinating through the mesh network to optimize energy utilization. The batteryless architecture, powered by energy harvesting, enables sustainable, maintenance-free operation, thereby improving pollination efficiency, crop productivity, and precision agriculture in protected cultivation environments
