Abstract: The present invention discloses an Adaptive IoT-Based Vehicle Speed Limiting System Using Real-Time Traffic Intelligence for enhancing road safety and traffic efficiency. The system dynamically regulates vehicle speed based on prevailing road and traffic conditions instead of fixed statutory speed limits. An IoT Hardware Control Unit comprising a microcontroller, GPS receiver, and wireless communication module acquires data from live traffic services, cloud-based traffic intelligence, vehicle sensors, weather services, and V2V/V2I communication networks. A Speed Decision Engine processes the collected information to determine an adaptive target speed using Multi-Level Speed Zoning, considering traffic congestion, signal timing, road hazards, accidents, weather conditions, and crowd-sourced reports. The computed speed is transmitted to the Vehicle ECU for automatic throttle-level enforcement, while a driver interface provides real-time alerts and notifications. The system further supports over-the-air updates and backup power, thereby improving traffic flow, reducing accidents, and enabling intelligent, context-aware speed management.
