Abstract: A modular liner (200) for a Type IV composite pressure containing cylinder for high pressure gas tube trailer service is disclosed. The liner comprises an extruded polymer drum (201) of tube trailer length, a front dome (202) and a rear dome (203) closing its ends, and front and rear metallic bosses (204, 205) each integrally moulded with the respective dome. Each drum end terminates in a male tongue (209) received within a female socket (210), a locking bead (211) establishing a snap fit lock, and the mating faces being hot plate welded at a fusion interface (212). A carbon fibre composite overwrap (214) over the assembly is received within an external locking groove (213), radially compressing and locking the joint. The construction permits cylinders up to twelve metres and about fifty per cent lighter than equivalent metallic cylinders. FIG. 1 is proposed for publication with the abstract. [
