MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641101781 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on August 23, 2026, for Adaptive Image Calibration System And Method For Bias Reduced Skin Lesion Analysis.

Inventors include Chiranji Lal Chowdhary; and Rajeshkumar S.

The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an adaptive image calibration system and method (100) for bias-reduced skin lesion analysis. The system comprises a camera capture module (102) configured to acquire a skin lesion image, a processing layer (104) comprising an illumination module (104a), a skin tone estimator (104b), and a calibration engine (104c), a classification module (106), and an output module (108). The illumination module (104a) determines illumination parameters associated with the acquired image, while the skin tone estimator (104b) determines skin tone parameters from chromatic image characteristics. The calibration engine (104c) generates a calibrated image by performing adaptive brightness normalization, contrast enhancement, and color balance adjustment based on the illumination parameters and skin tone parameters. The calibrated image is supplied to the classification module (106) for lesion classification, and the output module (108) generates a prediction output. The invention provides adaptive image standardization prior to lesion classification.
