Abstract: The present invention discloses a wearable smart hearing protection device comprising an ESP32 microcontroller, a MEMS microphone, a threshold-based attenuation engine, and an integrated IoT ___ ----------- communicationmoduleTThe systcm cdntinuoiisly monitors ambient sound pressure levels and applies dynamic audio attenuation when levels meet or exceed 85 dB SPL, while preserving speech frequencies (300 Hz to 3400 Hz) and alarm frequencies to maintain worker situational awareness. A primary novel feature is the real-time transmission of noise exposure data including instantaneous SPL values, threshold breach events, and cumulative noise dose to a cloud-based monitoring platform, enabling organizational safety compliance reporting and multi-worker exposure analytics. The invention addresses the key limitation of all prior art electronic hearing protectors, which lack IoT connectivity and cloud-based exposure monitoring capabilities, and provides a cost-effective scalable solution for industrial, construction, mining, and aviation etc.
