Abstract: The present invention relates to an Adaptive Flat-Platform Escalator System for Safe Wheelchair Transportation, which offers safe vertical mobility for wheelchair users, elderly persons, patients and physically disabled people in public infrastructure in a safe, efficient and accessible manner. The invention involves combining one or more adaptive flat-platform modules into a conventional escalator system and substituting certain stepped sections of the escalator with a horizontal platform that is capable of safely carrying a wheelchair while the escalator is moving. When accessed via an accessibility interface or by automatic detection of users, the system transforms the designated escalator section into a stabilized flat platform, without interrupting the escalator's operation. Intelligent leveling mechanisms, wheelchair locking assemblies, deployable safety barriers, occupancy and positioning sensors, adaptive speed control and emergency protection features ensure secure transportation when ascending or descending. Once the platform reaches the destination, it stays level to allow easy departure from the platform and then returns to normal escalator operation for all passengers. The invention also includes a smart control unit which only turns accessibility mode on when it is necessary, which reduces the impact on normal traffic flow while keeping the system and its operation as efficient as possible. The proposed system is space efficient, time saving, integrated and is an alternative to traditional accessibility solutions that use only dedicated lifting equipment or lifts. The invention greatly increases universal accessibility, decreases the time required to wait at the railway station, metro station, airport, hospital, shopping mall, educational institution, government building, and other multi-level public facilities, and helps passengers to be more safe while traveling at the railway station, metro station, airport, hospital, shopping mall, educational institution, government building and other multi-level public facilities. This proposed system is an innovative approach that integrates the three areas of intelligent public transportation infrastructure: adaptive mechanical design, automated safety system and intelligent accessibility control, in a unified platform of escalators
