MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641125806 A) filed by Rajalakshmi Engineering College on October 22, 2026, for Adaptive Edge Gateway System For Predictive Partitioning Of Iot Workloads.

Inventors include Dr. K. Vijay; Jaeyalakshmi M; Bhavani M; Surweesh Sp; and Vimalan M.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: An adaptive edge gateway system and method are disclosed for predictive partitioning of Internet of Things (IoT) workloads among a local gateway processor, one or more neighbouring edge nodes and a remote cloud service. The system acquires device data, constructs a task representation, monitors processor, memory, queue, link and energy conditions, and predicts a short-horizon resource state. A predictive partitioning engine uses the predicted state, task dependencies, latency limits, data- transfer cost and resource availability to assign executable task segments to suitable nodes. A checkpoint and synchronization manager transfers task state at controlled boundaries to maintain execution consistency during reassignment. A hysteresis mechanism limits unnecessary migration, and a fallback controller retains local execution when a remote resource becomes unavailable. The system reduces avoidable data transfer, limits gateway overload and maintains workload responsiveness under changing IoT operating conditions.
