Abstract: ABSTRACT ADAPTIVE DUAL-METRIC THRESHOLD-BASED SYSTEM FOR ENERGY-EFFICIENT VIRTUAL MACHINE MIGRATION The present invention discloses an adaptive dual-metric threshold based system (100) and method for energy-efficient virtual machine migration in cloud data centers. The system (100) comprises a resource monitoring module (120) that acquires central processing unit and random access memory utilization metrics, an EWMA computation engine (130) that computes exponentially weighted moving averages of both metrics using per-host state tracking maps (170), a threshold computation module (140) that derives an adaptive threshold as a weighted linear combination of EWMA-smoothed CPU and RAM values clamped within safe bounds, an overload detection module (150) that determines host overload status, and a migration controller (160) that triggers virtual machine migration. The dual-metric approach reduces energy consumption by twenty-six point nine percent, service level agreement violations by forty-seven point seven percent, and virtual machine migrations by fifty point eight percent compared to static threshold baselines, while maintaining compatibility with existing virtual machine selection.
