Abstract: The present invention relates to an adaptive cultivation system and method for hydroponic crop production. The system comprises at least one cultivation unit having a cultivation tank containing a nutrient solution zone, a plant support arrangement configured to retain a growing medium, a moisture delivery assembly, a nutrient recovery arrangement and a cultivation controller. The moisture delivery assembly is configured to selectively operate in a plant-establishment mode for delivering moisture toward the growing medium and an environmental-conditioning mode for delivering moisture into a cultivation environment surrounding a plant. The cultivation controller is configured to determine a transition condition associated with progression of the plant from an establishment stage toward a solution-supported growth stage and to modify operation of the moisture delivery assembly from the plant-establishment mode to the environmental-conditioning mode upon determination of the transition condition. The system further comprises a nutrient recovery arrangement configured to receive recovered nutrient solution, determine nutrient quality parameters and selectively route the recovered nutrient solution through recirculation, conditioning or disposal pathways according to a classification process. The invention enables stage-responsive plant establishment, adaptive nutrient management, reduced manual intervention and efficient utilization of water and nutrient resources during hydroponic cultivation.
