MUMBAI, India, June 19 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202617058693 A) filed by Viasat, Inc. on May 08, 2026, for Ad Hoc Network Formation Using Internode Discovery.

Inventor includes Drobish, Christopher L..

The application for the patent was published on June 05, 2026, under issue no. 23/2026.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses disclosed herein provide for the formation of ad hoc networks based on the exchange of discovery burst signaling at a hardware level, according to deterministic hardware timing. Among several advantages, use of deterministic hardware timing provides a basis for accurate, high-resolution estimation of the propagation delay between respective nodes exchanging the discovery burst signaling. In turn, accurately determining the propagation delay at a high resolution provides for precise estimation of ranging between the respective nodes, which allows for synchronization of Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) transmissions between the nodes.
