Abstract: An actuator assembly comprising: a first part (10); a second part (20) that is movable relative to the first part; a bearing arrangement (40) configured to guide rotation of the second part relative to the first part about an axis of rotation (P); a first actuating unit (30a) configured to apply an actuating force (F) to the second part to drive rotation of the second part relative to the first part in a first sense about the axis of rotation; wherein the first actuating unit comprises: a body portion (31); an SMA element (34) connected between the body portion and the first part, and configured, on actuation, to apply an input force (Fi) to the body portion; and a force-modifying element (32a) connected between the body portion and the first part, and configured to modify the input force so as to give rise to the actuating force.
