Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. An ambient wireless device may receive a time synchronization waveform that includes a continuous waveform for activation of the ambient wireless device and that indicates timing information associated with wireless communications between the ambient wireless device and a network entity. The ambient wireless device may perform, in accordance with the timing information indicated in the time synchronization waveform, a time synchronization calibration procedure to align a timing of the ambient wireless device with the network entity. The ambient wireless device may receive an ambient system information (A-SI) message based on the time synchronization calibration procedure. In some examples, the A-SI message may include system information (SI) associated with cell acquisition for one or more cells supported by the network entity.
