MUMBAI, India, Oct. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641121086 A) filed by Rajalakshmi Engineering College Autonomous on October 09, 2026, for Acoustic Seed Germination Quality Predictor.

Inventor includes Dr. M. Thangamani.

The application for the patent was published on October 23, 2026, under issue no. 43/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT This specification describes a portable handheld apparatus for predicting seed germination viability within 635 2-5 seconds using acoustic emissions generated during controlled mechanical compression. A compression module (100) applies incrementally increasing force to a seed placed on a hardened steel anvil (120) through a spring-loaded or servo-driven plunger (110). An acoustic sensing module (200), comprising a high-sensitivity MEMS microphone (210) within an acoustically isolated chamber (220), captures fracture sound signatures. A force sensing module (300) with a piezoelectric force sensor (310) 640 synchronously records force data. A processing module (400) extracts six diagnostic features: crack onset frequency, crack propagation duration, spectral energy distribution, amplitude envelope, force-at-fracture, and post-fracture acoustic decay rate. These features are analyzed using a species-specific machine learning model to generate a germination probability and viability classification. The device weighs under 300 grams, costs below Z5,000 at manufacturing scale, requires no reagents or laboratory equipment, and 645 includes calibration using reference polymer beads and smartphone-based batch tracking.PC3sPC3sPCDDRC
