Abstract: There is provided a planar acoustic element, comprising: an acoustic panel having first and second opposed major faces, wherein at least the first major face is provided with a fibrous facing which is exposed, wherein the panel is formed of man-made vitreous fibre (MMVF) and wherein the fibrous facing is formed of nonwoven inorganic chopped strand mat. Such acoustic elements exhibit desirable properties including improved physical robustness. They are useful as ceiling and wall tiles and other acoustic elements.
