Abstract: An acetabular cup assembly (100) for a hip replacement system (900), comprising an acetabular shell (102) having an outer surface (204) with a plurality of rib slots (202) and a fixation rib assembly (104) configured to be inserted into the acetabular shell (102). The fixation rib assembly comprises a central ring (402) and a plurality of ribs (404) extending radially outwards from the central ring. Each rib of the plurality of ribs is configured to align with a corresponding rib slot of the plurality of rib slots in the acetabular shell. Each rib comprises at least one expandable fin configured to spread outwardly into a surrounding bone tissue when in operation.
