MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631108621 A) filed by Dr. Nishantadeb Ghatak on September 09, 2026, for Abdominal Diagnostic System For An Infant.
Inventors include Dr. Nishantadeb Ghatak; and Dr. Debalina Nanda.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: An abdominal diagnostic system for an infant, comprises a handheld housing 101 for allowing a user to hold and apply a downward pressing force onto an infant skin surface for assessing abdominal distension and abdominal wall stiffness, a guided piston assembly 102 for converting downward pressing force into a controlled vertical movement, a circular skin contact probe 201 for contacting infant skin and transferring controlled vertical movement to produce a safe abdominal indentation, a calibrated spring arrangement 301 for providing a return force and limiting indentation to a fixed depth, a pressure sensor 202 for sensing tissue resistance during fixed depth indentation, a sub-epidermal moisture sensor for measuring bio-capacitance to indicate sub-surface fluid/edema condition, a temperature sensor 204 for measuring local skin temperature to indicate inflammatory/infective signatures, and an optical blood flow sensor 205 for measuring local perfusion under compression using photoplethysmography (PPG).
