MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641079928 A) filed by Sona College Of Technology on June 29, 2026, for Abaca Fiber-Reinforced Cementitious Wall Panel For Thermal Insulation And Structural Strength Enhancement.

Inventor includes Gulshan Taj M.

The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to an abaca fiber-reinforced cementitious wall panel for improving structural strength and reducing heat transfer in building envelope applications. The wall panel comprises M30 grade cementitious mortar reinforced with alkali-treated abaca fibers derived from Musa textilis. The fibers are treated using about 3% sodium hydroxide solution to remove lignin, hemicellulose, and surface impurities, thereby improving fiber-matrix bonding, moisture resistance, and durability. The incorporation of abaca fibers enhances compressive strength, flexural strength, crack resistance, and ductility of the wall panel. The panel further exhibits reduced thermal conductivity and increased thermal resistivity, providing improved thermal insulation and energy efficiency in buildings. The invention offers a sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to synthetic fiber-reinforced wall systems by utilizing biodegradable, renewable natural fibers suitable for structural and non-structural construction applications.
