Abstract: Abstract A WEIGH-IN-MOTION TRANSDUCER FOR MEASURING AXLE LOADS OF ROAD VEHICLES The present invention discloses a weigh-in-motion (WIM) transducer (102) for measuring axle loads of road vehicles. The WIM transducer (102) comprises a metal plate (202) which deforms downwards on receiving a load of a vehicle (106) to generate strain below the metal plate (202). The metal plate includes a slotted channel (204) configured to amplify the generated strain below the metal plate (202). The WIM transducer (102) further includes a plurality of strain gauges (206) placed within the slotted channel (204) to measure the amplified strain and to calculate axle loads of the vehicle (106) based on the measured amplified strain. The WIM transducer (102) also includes a covering lid (208) for covering the slotted channel (204) and the plurality of strain gauges (206), and a sealing component (212) placed between the covering lid (208) and the metal plate (202) to make the WIM transducer (102) airtight and watertight.
